Scleral L ents SSB and SB Full Scleral

Ultralentes' entire line of scleral lenses has anterior and posterior aspherical designs with a haptic zone with Spline Wave Technology (SWT) technology developed by Luciano Bastos that provides a smooth and differentiated scleral support zone for the nasal and temporal, upper and lower areas, ensuring an adaptation without haptic or edge compression on the conjunctiva. The design can be modified and customized for different corneal diameters and scleral anatomy.

SSB and SB Full Scleral lenses have a ventilation channel technology originated by SWT technology that allows the slow entry of tears or artificial lubricant without preservatives, increasing the oxygenation capacity of the cornea without the entry of mucin debris into the fluid.

The thickness of the SSB and SB lenses are the thinnest in the entire market, having a distribution of material volume as homogeneous as possible, avoiding problems of breakage or bending and thus allowing greater oxygenation (the oxygenation capacity of the lens is inversely proportional to its thickness). In addition to providing greater oxygenation, it makes the lens lighter and more comfortable in the patient's eyes.

All transitions and lens edges are calculated and manufactured without transitions and perfectly designed to provide the best comfort and hydrodynamic performance, this technology is due to many years of scientific study and development within the Ultralentes laboratory and conformed by ophthalmologists who adapt the lenses SSB and SB Full Scleral.
It is possible to customize the lenses in order to overlap or circumvent obstacles along the sclera.

Ultralent Scleral Models
The ideal test case for scleral lenses suggested by Ultralentes are SSB lenses with diameters 16.5 mm and 17.5 mm, plus the 18.5 mm test case. These three modules make up a complete scleral test box that covers more than 98% of cases. However, Ultralentes also offers corneal scleral lenses with diameters from 13.5 to 15.5 mm and SB full scleral lenses from 19.5 to 21.0 mm.

Corneo-Scleral CXL
Corneal scleral lenses CXL have diameters that can vary between 13.5 to 15.5 mm. and has the characteristic of being a hybrid adaptation option between the corneal and scleral lens. They are an option for cases of greater corneal irregularity where corneal RGPs do not allow good centralization. The CXL lens allows tear exchange, although slower than traditional corneal lenses. The CXL lenses have three designs with progressive asphericity providing a light adaptation and a soft support on the conjunctiva. The CXL test box has UF and UC drawings.

SSB CXL UF
Features: CXL UF horny-scleral lenses have a progressive aspherical monocurve base curve that joins a smooth support zone, with no transitions and can be manufactured with 38 to 47 diopter curves in diameters from 13.5 to 15.5 mm.

caixa.jpg

SSB CXL UC
Characteristics: CXL UC horny-scleral lenses have a double aspherical base curve, with a more curved central and a flatter secondary one with reverse aspheric transition (without joints) with a progressive aspheric periphery for smooth support. They can be manufactured in curves from 45x41 to 60x45 with different SAG values. There is the possibility to customize the adaptation as needed, changing diameters of the optical zone, total diameter of the lens and combinations of curvatures.

caixa2.jpg

SSB CXL-R
Characteristics: CXL-R horny-scleral lenses have double curvature, with a flatter curvature in the center, a secondary curvature and a progressive aspherical peripheral. They are lenses for cases where there is a large flattening of the cornea and a more curved peripheral area of the cornea. The CXL-R can be manufactured in curves from 36x45 to 39x45 and can be modified for further customization of the adaptation. The CXL-R test box is sold separately, for more information contact Ultralentes

SSB Semi-Scleral
SSB semi-scleral lenses have diameters that can vary between 16.0 to 17.8 mm. the most used diameters being 16.0, 16.5, 17.0 and 17.5 mm. SSB test cases are usually made with 16.5 and 17.5 mm. It is important to understand that SAG values vary considerably between these diameters. SSB lenses include a large part of the adaptations as they provide SAG values and designs that allow uniform overlap on the cornea and light support on the scleral conjunctiva. The SSB test box has UF and UC models with diameters of 16.5 and 17.5 mm.

The SSB models are:

SSB UF

ssb.jpg

Characteristics: The SSB UF lenses have a progressive aspherical monocurve base curve and a defined haptic zone of scleral support with a spine design that provides an adequate landing on the scleral conjunctiva. SSB UF lenses can be manufactured with curves from 36 to 46 diopters in diameters from 16.0 to 17.5 mm. This design in many cases serves both for keratoconus and post-transplant cases.

SSB-R

ssbr.jpg

Characteristics: SSB-R semi-scleral lenses have double curvature, with a flatter curvature in the center, a more curved secondary curvature and a sline haptic zone. curve with slightly higher SAG. The SSB-R can be manufactured in curves from 36x45 to 39x45 and can be modified for further customization of the adaptation. The CXL-R test case is sold separately. Generally used in post-RK cases and in cases after corneal transplantation where there is a well-defined central plateau and a more curved peripheral corneal curve.

SB Full Scleral
SB Full Scleral scleral lenses have diameters that can vary between 18.0 to 21.0 mm. the most used diameters being 18.5 mm and 19.5 mm. which are the standards for the test box. It is important to understand that the SAG values vary considerably more in larger diameters, so lenses with the same curvature parameters will have much larger SAGs from 18.5 to 19.5 mm.
SB Full Scleral has a larger, better distributed haptic support zone over the sclera, with less pressure and force on the conjunctiva. This larger support zone provides comfort and a larger covered area, excellent for patients with a larger eyelid cleft, larger corneas and with therapeutic indication. The haptic zone with Spline Wave Technology allows the accommodation of anatomically distinct areas and a ventilation system that provides a tear-entry lens or lubricant eye drops without preservatives, increasing the cornea's oxygenation capacity.
SB Full Scleral enables those adaptations where no other lens can achieve with SAG values that can reach up to more than 9,300 microns. An excellent solution for cases of advanced keratoconus, keratoglobo, pellucid marginal degeneration. post-corneal transplantation, post-sequelae from surgery with a large and / or high elevated cornea, usually with a larger eyelid cleft.
These lenses are definitely for the most advanced specialists in scleral lens fitting and need better resources to handle these cases of even greater complexity.
